My Most Weathered Book
Perhaps tattered and torn equals a life well-lived and well-loved
Have you ever read The Velveteen Rabbit?
Of course you have.
But if you happen to be from Mars, Venus, or Uranus and you haven’t yet experienced this treasure by Margery Williams, once you read it, you’ll learn that when something becomes worn, tattered, and weathered, it’s usually because it has been deeply loved:
Laugh lines on your face, frayed edges of a favorite sweater, or the dog-eared pages of a beloved book.
Even we humans become more beautiful through the weathering of a life fully lived.
I have a number of books (written by others) that I couldn’t live without (i.e., The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, The Alchemist by Paohlo Coehllo, A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes, to name a few).
However, when people ask me which of my books (of the ones I’ve written) is my favorite, my answer is always: the one I’m writing right now.
But if you asked which is the most weathered of all my books, it is hands down Luminous Humanness (published by Blue Angel)
At the risk of sounding bragadocious, I’ve heard from many readers that their copies look just like mine—held together by a whisper, dog-eared, highlighted, underlined, and coffee-stained.
To me, those worn pages aren’t signs of disrespect but of love. To me, they tell the story of a book that has not been left to collect dust on a shelf...but one that’s been opened, returned to, leaned on, and lived with.

Just like most things in my life, the more tattered and torn they become, the more they symbolize how deeply they’ve been loved.
To honor your Luminous Humanness, I thought I’d share today’s reading from July 30.—since it feels like a message appropriate for any day of the year. After all, I think I heard someone say we write what we most need to hear.

A Warrior, Not a Worrier
In the sacred circle, at the core of who you are, there’s a knower within you who knows the truth. This inner knower is attuned to the fact that you are whole, intact, cup-runneth-over fulfilled, effusing crystalline light, with magic sparking from every cell of your being in a dance of never-ending grace.
Remembering you are whole means you never again need to fret about the ups, downs, highs, and lows of life.
Affirmation
From the regions of light,
I boldly emerge,
powerful at my core,
as a spiritual warrior I soar.
✨ May you remember today that you are far more warrior than worrier. And may the things you treasure most—including your own beautiful heart—show the gentle weathering that only love can leave behind.

Je te souhaite une très belle nuit, ma chou, Kelly. Fais de beaux rêves. 🌙
Beautiful & perfect timing. I'm releasing worry every day.
